My Entrepreneurship
Story
Growing up, I was exposed to entrepreneurship on a daily
basis. As a second job, my dad designs and builds his own furniture and sells
it. He calls his little furniture business Gary
Neil Hoffmann, LLC. While growing up, my dad would always ask us for help
with one of his designs, or with sawing the wood, and even with selling his
furniture. As the years went by, social media began to be a huge deal and my
two sisters and I set up a website for my dad and a Facebook and Instagram
account where he showcases all of his work, the selling price, how to purchase,
who to contact, etc. My dad’s furniture is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.
He is a funky dude and his furniture show just that. Although his furniture
business hasn’t always been easy, he loves doing it and he is really good at
it. Below is a picture of one of the many furniture pieces my dad designed,
built, and sold. This is one of his desks. If you want to see more you can go to his website garyneilhoffmann.com.
I decided to take ENT 3003 because I have always wondered
what it really means to be an entrepreneur, what their daily life looks like,
and how they continue to grow and be successful. I also needed a four-credit
elective and while reading the reviews for this class, I realized I would really
be able to grow and learn throughout the course.
I hope to get a lot out of this class. I am an extremely
hard worker and will put my best effort into every assignment. I hope to first
and foremost, better understand what it means to be an entrepreneur and the
daily life of one. I also hope to improve my writing skills in this class
because posting and writing multiply blogs every week will be extremely
challenging for me considering I’m not the best writer.
I am looking forward to an exciting and fun semester! :)

ReplyDeleteI will start off by saying that your father makes some pretty neat stuff. In addition, I believe that by helping create your father's social media accounts you have practiced entrepreneurship. Furthermore, you say that you want to know what it really means to be an entrepreneur, but I believe you have a great source to answer that which would be your father. On the other hand, I think like you, I would like to discover what it means for myself. I look forward to working with you this semester!
