28A - Your Exit Strategy

1)  I plan to stay with my app Lets Ride until I have completely takin over the market. I want to be the one and only app in Gainesville to use with the RTS bus system. I will also stay until I am making enough money to support myself and my future kids. After I have accomplished this, I plan on selling my business for a large return. I will only sell to an individual who has the same core values I do and who really cares and has passion for my app.

2)  I chose to eventually sell the app because I won’t always live in Gainesville. My future job and major will eventually take me to another state and I want someone in charge of my business who actually lives in Gainesville. This way they will be able to see first-hand how the business is doing and what may need fixing or improving. With all the things I’m passionate about and my life in general taking me to a different place, I want to make sure this app and the people who use the RTS bus system are set up with someone who is there to help at all times. I don’t want to abandon the app and not have it as the most important thing to me. So, that is why I will eventually be selling the app.

3) Knowing that I am one day going to leave and sell my business, I have become more willing to put myself out there and meet new people. I have stopped caring so much about the people that only effect my business, I now care about networking with anyone and everyone. I am also more open to new ideas and see a lot of new opportunities. My exit strategy has not influenced my growth intensions and I still plan on updating all of the technology on the buses and giving them all a face lift, like I discussed last week. I still want what is best for my business and my app, but I now have more of an open mind when it comes to meeting new people. You never know who you may meet that could end up helping you with your next business idea.

  1. Natalie-

I think it's great that you plan to sell your business in the future. Understanding that you will not live in Gainesville long and leaving the market is beneficial to know early on. Also, I like how you plan to exploit your network for new opportunities. Not only will you increase your contacts as you said, but you will also have funds from your sell to invest in one, if not more different businesses.

  2. Hi, Natalie! I think your exist strategy is very complimentary to your business plan. I like that you will wait until you've taken over the market before selling, and that you will sell to someone in Gainesville who shares the same core values as you. It really shows your passion for the app and your customers. I can tell you want the best for your app and the people using the RTS system. As I said before, hurry up and make the app because I need it!
